Amy Schneider, a writer from Oakland, Calif., holds the record for the second-longest winning streak in Jeopardy! history. Voted “Most Likely to be on Jeopardy!” in high school, her historic 40-game, $1,382,800 performance seemed predestined.

Matt Amodio, now a postdoctoral fellow at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, became a Jeopardy! superstar during Season 37 when he embarked on a record-breaking streak that concluded with 38 wins in Season 38. Matt currently holds the no. 3 spot in both consecutive games won (38) and highest winnings ($1,518,601) on the Leaderboard of Legends.

Mattea Roach, a writer, podcaster, and proud Canadian, is a Jeopardy! player to watch. They currently rank no. 5 for both highest winnings ($560,983) and consecutive games won (23) on the Leaderboard of Legends. At only 23 years old, Mattea is one of the youngest Jeopardy! super-champions ever.

A rideshare driver from Philadelphia, Ryan Long (and his beaded necklace) captured our hearts as he routed the competition in Season 38. He currently ranks no. 9 for consecutive games won (16) on the Leaderboard of Legends.

An artistic performer since childhood, Jonathan Fisher had no problem shining on stage. He began his 11-game streak in one of Jeopardy!'s most memorable matchups: defeating super champion Matt Amodio. Jonathan is currently the only player in Jeopardy! history to defeat a 10-plus game champion, then go on to win 10-plus games themselves.

An attorney from Chicago, Brian Chang put together an impressive seven-game streak in Season 37.A music lover, who plays the bass clarinet in bands and orchestras, Brian also became well known for his trademark half-zipped sweater.

In Season 37, Courtney Shah broke an 88-game drought of non-streakers by winning seven games in a row. Currently living in Portland, Ore. and teaching in Longview, Wash., Courtney enjoys spending her free time crocheting Star Wars characters. The force is strong with this one.

A meteorologist from Minneapolis, Eric Ahasic began his six-game streak by defeating super-champion Ryan Long. A career in finding tornadoes perhaps helped him with his knack for spotting Daily Doubles. At home, he loves his toothless cat named Potato.

Zach Newkirk is one of the only contestants to win Jeopardy! with both Alex Trebek and Ken Jennings as hosts. An attorney from Virginia, Zach's run began with defeating fellow ToC contestant Brian Chang. One of his life goals is to read a book from every country.

In Season 38, Megan Wachspress started her Jeopardy! journey by defeating ToC player Eric Ahasic and ended up going on a six-game winning streak. An environmental attorney from Berkeley, Calif., Megan volunteers at Mount Tamalpais College, which provides a degree program to people at San Quentin State Prison.

A software developer from San Francisco with perfect pitch, Andrew He played two of the most exciting games in Season 38: his first game and his last game. He won his first matchup by only $2, and his outstanding five-game run came to an end when he was defeated by 40-game super-champ Amy Schneider.

Tyler Rhode was a five-game winner in Season 38, earning over $100K. In college, Tyler was a volunteer teacher and wrote his thesis on Roman Love Elegy, which won him a cash prize. Today, Tyler is a director at a start-up in New York City.

A pension calculation developer from Cary, N.C., Jackie Kelly qualified for the ToC with her four wins and took home a total of $115,100. Jackie was a high school state champion track star, so you could say she’s no stranger to racing past her opponents.

John Focht had a four-game, ToC-qualifying run in Season 37. Originally from El Paso, Texas, John is a Jeopardy! fanatic — so much so that he created his own Jeopardy! game at home, which he plays with friends. He also runs his own Jeopardy! analytics website: https://j-ometry.com/.

A graduate student in music from Spring Hill, Tenn., Christine is a four-game champ and ToC qualifier from Season 38. She took the Jeopardy! Anytime Test weeks after news of her cancer diagnosis and auditioned the night before her surgery. She returns for the ToC cancer-free and inspires us all.

Margaret Shelton, a homemaker from Pittsburgh, lived out her childhood dream by becoming a contestant on Jeopardy!. Her memorable four-game run in Season 38, which qualified her for the ToC, began when she defeated then-champion Christine Whelchel.

An executive assistant from Cambridge, Mass., O’Neil is a four-game ToC qualifier from Season 38. Maureen is a proud twin and has been an avid pub trivia player for the last 20 years.

Winning $250,000, Jaskaran Singh became the first-ever primetime Jeopardy! National College Champion while a student at UT Austin. Now a consultant in Plano, Texas, Jaskaran is also the youngest competitor in this year’s ToC.

Sam Buttrey, an associate professor at the Naval Postgraduate School, qualified for the ToC after he won the first-ever Jeopardy! Professors Tournament. The champ also walked away with the $100K grand prize, which his famous doppelgänger, Steve Martin, even acknowledged on Twitter.

On 10/11/21, Jessica Stephens beat 38-game super-champion Matt Amodio. The only problem was she didn’t beat eventual 11-game super-champ Jonathan Fisher — a result unlucky enough that it served as the inspiration for Second Chance. Stephens made the most of her appearance in the new competition, winning Week 1 and advancing to the ToC.

One of Season 37’s most aggressive players, Rowan Ward nearly slayed a giant when they came up short against 38-game winner Matt Amodio in that season’s finale. It was a fearless performance that earned them a berth in the newly created Second Chance competition — and, after winning Week 2 of that event, a ticket to the TOC.
